Overview

Each applicant who is seeking a US Visa (including children), have to pay a Visa fee which is non-refundable, non-transferable. It is mandatory to pay the visa application feewhether a visa is issued or not. The type of visa for which you have put on your application determines the fee amount. Here on this web page you will find a list of visa application fees associated with immigrant and each non-immigrant visa type.

U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa Fees

It is important to know that the visa application fee cannot be refundable and cannot be transferred to another person. Thus, one has to be very careful before paying the fee. After paying the applicant fee you will receive a receipt. This validity of fee receipt for non-immigrant visa is for one year from the date of payment and allows you to schedule your interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Applicant can schedule his/ her interview while the receipt is valid, this means that applicants interview has to be booked within one year of paying his/her fee. In case applicant has not scheduled an interview within a year of payment then the receipt will be expired and applicant will not be able to schedule an interview, and still the applicant wants to schedule interview then he/she has to start the process again and have to pay non-immigrant fees again.

U.S. Immigrant Visa Fees

The US immigrant visas allow a person to stay permanently in the US and where they can live and work. The fees for the immigrant visas are for petitions as well as processing fees.
The fees for the petitions are as follows:

  • Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative): Increases by 26% to $675 for paper filing and $625 for online filing.

  • Form I-129F (Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)): Sees a 26% increase from $535 to $675.

  • Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status): Experiences an 18% increase for standalone applications (from $1,225 to $1,440). Additionally, formerly free applications within the adjustment of status process—employment authorization and advance parole—will now cost an additional $260 and $630, respectively.

  • Form I-129 (Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker): H-1 Classification sees a $320 increase from $460 to $780.

  • Form I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker): Experiences a $15 increase from $700 to $715.

  • Form I-907 (Request for Premium Processing): Witnesses a $305 increase from $2,500 to $2,805.

For Immigrant Visa processing fees, applicant depend on the type of visa which you are applying for, and are as follows:

  • Immediate Relative or Family Preference Immigration Applications Fee is $325.00, this is in addition to the petition.

  • Employment-Based Immigration Applications fee is $345.00, and this is in addition to the petition.

Another Fee for most immigrant visa is the Affidavit of Support, which costs $120. Immigrant Visa fees is paid after receiving Welcome Letter from NVC.

To pay fee you must have an account in a US based bank and have a bank routing number and a checking or savings account number. It is not mandatory that only the applicant has to pay fee any other person who has U.S. Bank account can pay fees for you. Usually petitioners pay these fees.
